In its advocacy role the Foundation seeks to be “a voice for the river” in the public arena, advocating worthy public and regulatory policies based on sound science. In its conservation role, the Foundation funds and provides through its membership “boots in the water” volunteer labor for a variety of conservation-oriented projects.


Those who have invested the time, effort and resources to the Madison River Foundation have two principal motivations that frame our purpose and intent.

* 1. The Madison River ecosystem is currently a healthy and productive resource, but a dynamic approach is needed to preserve this status.
* 2. A need exists for a local focus on issues and concerns specific to the Madison River watershed.
